Dyal Death Ties Local Man To Seattle Accident

James Dyal formerly of this community died in a hunting accident near Seattle Washington. He was a son of Art and Mrs Dyal of Van Buren township and left a wife and young daughter. He was known widely in the state and had built a prosperous Seattle insurance business. He leaves brothers and sisters and his mother traveled to Seattle after the notice. Jim Dyal was a strong salesman and popular figure in local circles.

Death of Archibald Cunningham A Longtime Southwest Farmer

Archibald Cunningham a resident and well known farmer of West Odon died at home after a months long illness. Born in 1849 he was 73. He married Jape Booth in 1874 and leaves four children and siblings. Funeral at the Christian Church Saturday at two with Rev. Buchanan and Rev. Spaishower officiating. Burial at Walnut Hill.

Odon/H S Begin Season With Win Over Scotland High

The Odon high school basketball team opened the 1923-24 season with a 20 to 12 victory over Scotland high school at the Od on gym. Freeman Laughlin Cooper Asdell Mullis Stone led the scoring, with Mullis and Cooper hitting multiple baskets as the crowd watched a fast, clean game.

Halloween passed with no disorder or damage and wagons and junk at Main and Spring streets were conspicuously absent. The week saw several parties in town and praised the absence of rowdy behavior while urging continued festive restraint.

Mrs. J A McCoy fell at her Center street home last Saturday evening while carrying flowers. She tripped over an obstruction and sustained a broken left wrist with both bones fractured. She received immediate medical care and is healing as expected.

Isaac Andis Dies at 67 in Bogard Township

Isaac Andis, farmer of Bogard township, died at his home five miles southwest of the city last Thursday morning due to heart trouble after prolonged ill health. Born in Martina county, he moved to this county at age seven and spent his life in Bogard. He married Ella Yunt and had seven children, six surviving: Mrs. Clara Canady, Mrs. Mamie Fielder, Mrs. Edith Osman Elmer, Clarence, and Bernard. He leaves two brothers, Jake of Illinois and Will of Bogard, and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Holt of Tulsa, Mrs. Dan Weaver of Elnora, and Mrs. Mary Clark of Terre Haute.

Mrs Sarah J Sprague died at her east Odon home after an extended illness. Born January 17 1864 at Bluffton Indiana she was 59. Survived by husband William R Sprague eight children six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral at U B church Eaglesville with Rev N Fouts. burial in Eaglesville cemetery.

Death of William McKinney Resident Passes After Illness

William McKinney, formerly of this community, died at his daughter’s home in Terre Haute last Thursday from complications of diseases. He had lived on a farm northeast of town and was known locally. He was twice married, both spouses predeceased him. He leaves several children and distant relatives. The body returned here Friday, with funeral at Concord Church Sunday at 2 PM led by Rev. Moore of Elnora. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery.

Mrs. Missouri Cumings Dies at St Reno Home

Mrs. Missouri Cumings a former resident died at her home in St Reno Oklahoma October 28 1923. She was the widow of T H Cummings and is survived by four children and one sister. Children include Mrs Inez Miller Pittsburg Pa Mrs Evelyn Rukes El Reno Okla N B Cummings and R D Cummings El Reno. Sister is Mrs Laura A Sears Bedford Indiana.
