Health Crusade organized to fight tuberculosis county wide

County representatives met at Washington High School to form a Health Crusade. The goal is 2500 dollars to equip a county nurse for schoolchildren. Attendees from Odon included Mrs. N. F. Barkley, Mrs. Otis Williams, and Miss Zella Ackerman. The state secretary spoke, emphasizing public health and the drop in tuberculosis deaths.

Senior English class studies Early American Literature while the art class runs an eft shop at Odon Clothing under Mrs. Sommers. Odon basketball travels to Plainville this week and faces a matched opponent after last year’s defeat and home win for the Odon girls. Latin studies Caesar’s Gallic War aided by new color prints. Odon girls fall 24 to 1 at Edwardsport. Edwardsport’s veteran lineup dominates. Continued on page 6.

Nugent to speak at national meeting of county agents

M B Nugent, Greene County former agricultural agent now Vigo County agent, will speak at the national association of county agricultural agents annual meeting at the Morrison hotel Chicago on December 6. He will lead a general discussion in the afternoon session. Also reported is a fatal hunting accident near Hymera when 18 year old Thomas Ingram died after his shotgun discharged near his left eye. Grover Wilkins summoned help and Ingram, who was attempting to crawl under a fallen tree, was pronounced dead at home. E Malone of Newberry is attending Purdue University poultry course starting Nov 12 with 26 participants from Indiana Winds Kentucky and South Dakota. The two week program, offered free by Purdue, covers poultry production and management. Malone owns about 300 chicks.
