Terre Haute murder shocks Ehrmann plant crowd

Edward Wade a Bemant, Hse and Co. teamster was killed by Emil Ehrmann during a strike related confrontation at the Ehrmann Manufacturing plant. Ehrmann claimed self defense as a 3,000 strong crowd watched. Wade leaves a wife and three children and was a former local union member.

Program for a religious meeting at Mrs. Bert Crooke's home on a Wednesday afternoon. Topics include Mexico's Need of the Truth, Perverted Christianity, and The Test of Truth. Prayers, Bible lessons, recitations, and hymns led by Evelyn Crooke, Lillie Neeremer, and others.

Automobile Accident Near Plainville Injures Two Boys

A serious crash two and a half miles from Plainville last Friday injured Joe Hickey and nearly killed him. The 18 year old and his younger brother Morris baled straw in a Brush auto when Morris jumped out for a race and the vehicle dragged Joe about thirty feet. Joe suffered a broken right leg and a broken right collarbone with severe bruising. Doctors Freshley and MecKittrick treated him and expect recovery if no complications arise.

Measles Death Claims Mrs Sears in Odon Region

Mrs Emily J Sears wife of Geo Sears three miles north of Williams died at her mother Mrs Abbie Riggins east of Odton from measles after a malaria illness. Born 45, daughter of Hastings, survived by husband four children and siblings John Andy Hastings and Mrs Willard Bowman. Funeral held at Mrs Riggins residence with Rev T J Alford. burial in Friendship Cemetery.

Seneff Rescued After Suicide Attempt Near Ottawa

Jos H Seneff who moved from Odon to Ottawa Kansas attempted to hang himself at his home last Sunday night. Family found him and revived him after a few hours. He had earlier tried to end his life last fall while living south of Odon and was discovered. He faced turmoil after trading farms and planned admission to a sanitarium for treatment.

Eighth Grade Commencement Planned for Daviess County

County superintendent A. Fulkerson has arranged the eighth grade commencement for Daviess County common schools. It will take place in the Christian church in Washington on Saturday June 11 at 2 o clock in the afternoon. The program includes music invocation by Rev J W Darby Flossie Allen vocal solo Mrs J W Barby presentation of diplomas and benediction by Rev S A Hayworth.

Monument to G A R to be delayed for proper lawn setup

Chairman Ragsdale and the G A R monument committee in Washington plan to defer dedication of the Civil War memorial in the court house yard. The project will not be completed until after lawn renovations are finished, with a fall ceremony most likely.
