Light and Power Plant Nears Completion
The Light and Power Plant is rapidly nearing completion with brickwork finished and walls thirteen inches thick on a solid concrete foundation. The building is six 1 feet and the concrete floor will be used at once. The main line switch from Spring street and the railroad is completed by Oden and Elnora section crews. Boilers arrived earlier this week and were installed Wednesday. Materials for further construction have already arrived and more are expected daily.

Sunday School Visit Brings Portrait Exchange at Linton
Representatives from the Ogdon U B Sunday School traveled to Linton to present a portrait of William Philip Otterbein, founder of the U B church. Finger Removed From Hand in Surgery
Had finger removed. Lowry Cooper underwent operation performed by Dr. DeMotte to remove a cancerous growth on the third finger of the Uns Jefe hand, which had caused considerable trouble. The procedure took place on a Wednesday.

The old street sprinkler will be replaced by road oil to dust the business district. Watering, though favored for cleanliness, is costlier and now unavailable due to water supply issues. Lightning Hits Barn on Noah Webster Farm
A lightning bolt struck a barn on Noah Webster’s northwest farm Tuesday evening, starting a fire extinguished before it gained headway. Farmhand George Hotlands was knocked down by the shock but unharmed. No stock suffered injuries and the barn sustained only slight damage. Dan Porter also lives on the farm.

Free band concerts planned for Main and Spring area

Local Citizen Richard Williams Found Dead at Burns City
Richard Williams a Martin county resident was found dead in his Burns City home Wednesday morning around two. Coroner Sunday of Laogootee ruled death by apoplexy after an inquest. He was sixty three and survived by two brothers, a wife, and six children. Funeral was held at Burns City Christian church led by Rev. C H Bachanan with burial in the Wolliams cemetery.

Two Indictments Dismissed in Nugent Case
Prosecuting Attorney filed a motion before Judge J W Ogden in Daviess circuit court asking dismissal of two of eight indictments against Thomas Nugent. One alleged embezzlement from county funds at close of Nugent’s term as county auditor. The other charged embezzlement of county money during his tenure. Cases numbered 2976 and 1977.
