Odon Plans Huge Fourth of July Celebration

Business leaders in Odon organized a large Fourth of July event with a full committee structure and plans for races contests and ball games at the town park. Prominent speakers and booster trips are planned to attract mammoth crowds and spread advertising across neighboring counties.

LODGES DECORATE. The lodges of EKP LO OF and LK MO held a joint decoration service Sunday. Members gathered at Main and Spring streets, then marched in line to the park south of town for an address by Rev. Trusty of the Christian church. A large crowd attended.

Sells Millinery Store On South Spring Street

Boone Cox has sold her millinery store on South Spring street to Miss Birds Keller of Indianapolis. Keller took possession Monday.

Town Board Votes Sewer Repair Bids and Appoints McCoy

The city town board met Tuesday night approving bids for East Main Street sewer repairs in flood damaged condition. J A McCoy was elected to the school board replacing C E O'Dell whose term ends in August. The board granted free park use to local business men for the Fourth of July celebration.

Boyd and Lena Mallette Wed in Odon Area Home

At Rev G P Crawford's home on Thursday evening 5 30 PM Robert Boyd and Lena Mallette were married in a small ceremony attended by families and a few friends. Boyd, son of Sam and Mrs Boyd of southwest of Odon, and Mallette, daughter of Stephen and Mrs Mallette of Van Buren township, plan to live with the Boyd family after the wedding. Lena wore blue messaline with overface trim.

Livestock and Farm Produce Prices Report

Prices paid by local shippers yesterday afternoon for grain cattle and hogs are listed. Cattle brought 7.75 to 8.00 dollars, hogs 5.50 to 6.50 dollars, poultry and produce show various per unit amounts, butter at around 0.10 dollars per pound.

Invitations from Odon relatives announce the wedding of Evelyne Pearl Best daughter of Mr and Mrs John Best to Z Roy Fulker son brother of A O Fulkerson county superintendent. The ceremony will be at the Best home 1512 Mance street Montreal on Wednesday June 11. Mrs Fulkerson is the youngest daughter of Mrs Isaac Fulkerson of Washington and formerly lived near Odon. Fulker is a former Odon High School student employed by United Shoe Machinery Company of Montreal.

New Band Stand Completed for Thursday Night Concert

A newly built eight by sixteen foot band stand on wheels is ready on the corner of Main and Spring streets. The first free band concert will be held next Thursday night with summer concerts planned and open to all residents to attend.

Heavy Storm Rout Confirms Montgomery County Damage

A severe midweek storm hit eastern and southern Montgomery County. Lightning struck the O Connor farm barn, destroying a new six month old structure and its contents, with only partial insurance coverage. At Jacobson residence the bolt damaged the chimney and interior soot but caused limited harm. The storm also damaged lattice work and trimmings, and heavy rains flooded gullies and creeks with substantial hay and grain losses reported, totaling large figures for the O Connor farm.
