Odon plans a new movie theater with a capital of 1500 dollars. Local businessmen form a corporation and have sold most stock. The theater will offer free weekly shows featuring agricultural, horticultural, stock raising, and educational reels to boost community interest and betterment.
A birthday dinner at J. W. Garretts home May 14 marked his 81st birthday anniversary. All but one of his children attended, including Will Garrett, Frank Garrett, Clark Lamb, and J. W. Dickey, with remarks on his Civil War service and his improving health.
Mrs Pleasie Joliff hosted a music and games event for local youths in west Odon last Tuesday night. Guests included Maysel Dearmin Trula Sims Alma Williams Naomi Funcanan Enid Williams Della Burress Stella Burress Nelson Humbaugh Elbert Sears Quinten Osborne Harold Flinn Gilbert Humbaugh and Joe Williams. Ice cream cake and candy refreshments were served.
Mrs. M. B. Ulrich and her young daughter Betty Louise traveled to Terre Haute on Thursday to visit relatives, extending family ties in the area.
A packed Madison Township Sunday School Convention filled the U B church for afternoon and evening sessions with songs recitations and talks. Beatrice Hayes a Red Cross nurse and Avon Plummer recently returned from France spoke. County Pres T E Resler attended both sessions and discussed Sunday Schools. Next convention likely at Union Chapel.
Isabella Poorman born in Morrow County Ohio in 1859 was the eldest child of David and Mary Armetrout. She married Madison Poorman on May 1 1879 and had five children four daughters and one son. She joined the U B church at Dartington Ohio at age 13 and died May 5 in Madison Township Indiana after a period of poor health leaving a husband five children two sisters and one brother and nineteen grandchildren.
A group of men from Ragleville area attended the county board of commissioners hearing on road petitions. Neighboring residents and visitors include John L Beasley J G Wadsworth Garland Wadsworth H E Sims M O Pate Cassell Myers P H Dyal Jas Evans Logan Dant Gus Dant Oral Riggins and Mrs Angeline Myers. Weather affected corn planting but a good fruit crop is hoped for if conditions stay favorable.
Mrs Kathryn Osborn of Owensburg visited relatives here at week end. Aden Westfall attended events in Odon on Saturday. Mrs Mary Danner of Illinois visited her daughter Bertha James. Amos Osborn and family joined A W Stuckey and wife at Eaglesville Sunday. Miss Melissa Sims went to Odon Saturday. Brig General Dan Ketchem of Camp Taylor Ky spent a day with Mrs Sallie Ketchem. Kirby Kutch and family and Herman Beasley dined with Henry Miller and wife Sunday. James Holt and family visited Jasper Williams and wife Sunday. Mrs Ida Streitelmeir was guest of Mrs Emily Shinold Sunday afternoon. Marion Harris and wife of Odon spent Sunday with Walter Burris family. Aden Westfall and family drove to Elnora Monday. Misses Deila Terrel and Nelle Streitelmier visited Robert Terrel and mother near Faron Sunday. Russell Spurgeon and Carter Toon were at Odon Sunday. Boy Scouts played ball Sunday with a pick up team and were defeated. Aldo Williams visited Rome Osborn Saturday night. Mrs Clarence Skelton dined with Mrs Opha Westfall Sunday.

A Speedway Air Service Repair depot seeks 600 workers ages 18 to 40 with pay from $30 monthly with free necessities. Mother’s Day services fill all three churches with special programs and sermons.

Several households hosted relatives including Chestnut, Kelsey, Roach, Rosenberry, and Coyle families. births, calls, and Saturday or Sunday gatherings are recorded among neighbors near Pleasant Grove and Burns City.

A 44 image display of official Naval Aviation Service photos will be shown next week at Huette Poindexter's furniture store. The collection covers most navy planes in use, except the new large aircraft for oversea flight. A smaller model is included and an exhibit of the naval aviation system is shown. The photos arrive midweek and will be available Thursday through Saturday.
