Pythian Sisters Meet District Officers in Washington

The annual Pythian Sisters district meeting opened in Washington with twenty lodges represented. Grand chief is Elizabeth Coleman Kutch and district deputy grand chief is Etta Correll. Local members attended including Etta Correll, W. J. Danner, Levi Matthews, M. B. Fisher, and others.

Bert Jolliff Crushed by Heavy Crates at Station

Bert Jolliff was injured when a wagon wheel hit a rut and a crate weighing eight to nine hundred pounds fell on him while unloading from the station to his wareroom. His hip was crushed and he sustained body bruises. Doctors say injuries are not dangerous but recovery will take several weeks.

Missionary Institute Set for Odon May 32 and 12 1908

Arrangements are complete for a missionary institute at the U B church in Odon on May 32 and 12 1908. Ministers and laymen from distant places will join the program. The churches of Odon and vicinity are invited to cooperate and hear about world evangelization. Wall paper Odon Drug Co.

A good sized crowd watched Odon best Oolitic 7 to 0 at the Odon ball park Sunday. Renters joined the spectators from the Oolitic side and few errors occurred on either side. Next Sunday Oden will play Terre Haute at Odean ball park.

Tornado Strike Destroys Property Across Indiana Counties

A Sunday tornado tore north of here through northeast counties, ripping trees houses barns and livestock. It hurled hail as big as eggs. many injured and one death reported from Spencer. Property damage was extensive along the storm path. Wall paper Udon Drug Co.

Banquet Honors Supt A T Mayfield At Danners Hall

High school students and teachers hosted a Saturday banquet at Danner's hall to honor Supt A T Mayfield. The blue and white hall decorations featured a program of music readings gentfests and progressive games followed by a two course lunch. About seventy five students attended. Mayfield left for San Francisco to sail May 5 for the Philippine Islands to engage in educational work.

Washington township buys site for new graded school

The advisory board of Washington township has purchased a site for the location of the new graded school. This marks progress in the public education project and sets the stage for construction planning.
