Eighty railroad workers have filed affidavits and handed evidence to lawyers. Next Wednesday, lawsuits seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars will be filed in Chicago courts against nearly every railroad company with Chicago terminals. Workers claim blacklisting for union involvement and truth telling during the 1904 boycott.
A thief entered the Miners Bank at noon by a private entrance and held the cashier with a revolver. He transferred all cash to his coat and fled through an alley, disappearing before authorities arrived. Cashier Earnhardt raised the alarm but the suspect was not seen again.

New York June 22. Sound money supporters seek Wim. C Whitney as natural leader of the single standard at the Chicago convention. He has drawn letters from prominent figures in multiple states pledging support for any plan to push gold to the front. Whitney plans to go to Chicago around July 5 to present his case for a gold standard and to influence delegates. He says he is not a presidential candidate and will go to Chicago as a private citizen to aid sound money.
A gang that murdered two men and attempted to kill Dr Foster near Wyoming Minn was cornered by a 17 man posse near North Branch. Leader Bob Wilson killed, James Cunningham severely wounded, George Kelly captured after resisting. The group had been robbing along the St Paul Duluth road for a month before the Wyoming strike.
The Mississippi River Commission urged congress to allocate 4,500,000 of the 9,000,000 appropriation for levee construction along the river from northern Kentucky to the river mouth. One half to be spent in the first two years and the rest by June 30, 1909, with the other half following the dredging and related costs. The group adjourned to meet after the November election aboard the steamer Mississippi.
A dispatch from Quarantine S I reports William Ryan of Richmond, collector for eastern Virginia, aboard the Yamuri arriving for quarantine at Hoffman Island. He says Cubans are overwhelmingly for annexation to the United States, with autonomy discussions fading among autonomists, as most see annexation as the solution.
