In Sentivan Indiana on June 25 a mine strike turns tense as Superintendent Harter tries to reopen Star City mine with non union workers. Miners from nearby towns force workers out and demand Harter leave within four hours. Sheriff involvement rumored as the situation remains serious.
In Usiown City Indiana on June 25 a case emerges from the defunct Citizens bank. A September 8 1593 draft No 62658 drawn by Charles H Cadwallader on Importers and Traders bank for 2 dollars was returned stamped paid in New York. The face value shows 2000 dollars, a shortfall of 1908 dollars. Cadwallader is identified as cashier and the handwriting matches.
In Planapolis on June 25 Akron Ohio Rubber Co. sued Mueger Cycle Co. for assets and the appointment of a receiver. The claim was paid and the application dismissed. A deed of assignment to Howard Cale was feared by other creditors. Preferred creditors total $0.579 million. Assets exceed all claims. D. C. Smith & Co. of Milwaukee, holding a claim of $238.10, applied for a receiver.
The remains of Jacob Krauss, of Cleveland, will arrive in New York from Carlsbad on July 2 and be brought to Lexington for burial in the city’s cemetery. Charles F. Brower left to meet his sister Mrs. Krauss in New York. In Indiana, Joseph Abernathy, 45, attempted poisoning but survived. Patrick Gordon, 61, tried to kill himself and is to be moved to an asylum.
Ex State Gas Inspector El T.d. Jordan was assaulted with rotten eggs by unknown persons on his way home Tuesday night in SHUKLUYVILLE Indiana. He suspects political enemies. Police are pursuing suspects.
Sam Clark, living near Midway, was assaulted by five unknown men while fleeing a dance. A knife wounded him in the abdomen and he later died. In Hascenstons, Indiana, June 25, barns owned by Daniel Fist and Louis Alen were entered and harness stolen. bloodhounds to track the robbers.
John Bolan assisting with thrashing at Joseph Park's farm in Butler Indiana was caught in a belt and instantly killed. His body was mangled in a horrible manner.
Motion for a new trial in the forgery case of Wm. Harrington was overruled and he was taken to the penitentiary. The hearing occurred in Hustrxerox Indiana on a Wednesday in June.
