The supreme court affirmed Judge Hastings in Daviess circuit court ruling that County Assessor Dailey was not entitled to pay for serving on the boards of review and that he owes the county 78 percent of an overpayment from the prior two years. The case arose after Dailey was denied by the commissioners for services as a board member.

Joseph Gimlin an epileptic at Emanuel Hummerickhouse two and a half miles southwest of here swung a hoe at John Hummerickhouse and ripped the hat rim. Gimlin was taken to the poor farm Friday morning. G W Henderson the school board treasurer found several youths in the High School room playing cards and disturbing Sabbath harmony. The board weighs prosecution as they face fines.

Last Sunday the Odd Fellows and Ben Hur's Rebecca lodges held memorial exercises. The procession formed at Odd Fellows Hall and marched with the Don Band to the M E church where Rev. Buchanan gave a statistical address on lodge history and relief figures.

Word of a marriage on Christmas day between Misa Ella Whisman and Clay McKittrick of Eloora was announced. Mrs. McKittrick is the daughter of Wes and (Mrs. Whisman) near Elnora. McKittrick, brother of Dr. O K McKittrick, is a medical graduate. The couple are in Indianapolis visiting and may settle in the west after a forthcoming trip.
The Owensburg gas well remains stuck at 500 feet for several days as the drill has been fast repeatedly. When the drill loosens, workers will ease the hole and resume progress rapidly.
The Fourth Quarterly Meeting of the M. E. church on the Odon charge will be held at Good Hope from June 24 to 26. Events include Saturday evening preaching at 1 30, Love Feast Sunday morning at 9 45, and services Sunday at 10 30 and 7 30. Quarterly Conference is set for 9 00 Monday morning.
The third session of the Indiana Bible Conference took place in Palmyra Harrison County Indiana on June 68 with strong attendance from ministers and local church members. Dr.
J P Landis of the Union Biblical Seminary in Dayton Ohio presented the main address on the subject Evangelism as the school has grown. Six addresses delivered by ministers covered assigned topics with thoughtful remarks. The conference featured fervent spirit and deep enthusiasm, with a song service boosting interest.
Van Buren will receive a new school house this summer at the cross roads one mile south of Eaglesville on Jno. O Connor farm. The community has long desired and needed the facility for local students.
Mrs Charles Barks died at her home in Elnora Sunday from paralysis after a long illness. Burial was held Monday morning at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The Bedford Daily Mail reports that surveyors in the area are believed to be employed by the Southern Indiana Traction Co. for a proposed interreuben line. It is stated this project has no ties to Walsh's Southern Indiana railway, though name similarity has caused public confusion.
