The Modern Woodmen of America and Royal Neighbors held Memorial Day events on June 4 led by the Southern Indiana Band. They gathered at Woodmen Hall then marched to United Brethren Church for services, with Deputy Head Counselor P. J. Strack delivering the address and themes of memorial observance and order principles. The day concluded at Walnut Wil Cemetery with graves decorated and music by the band.

Dispatch from Jeffersonville claims despite General Manager Thompson denial that Southern Indians and owner John R. Walsh back surveys for a Louisville extension to Salem and beyond by 1807. Surveys cross Silver Creek near Blackiston mill then north to Jeffersonville and on toward Fredericksburg Salem and Bedford connecting with the Monon line. The route would access coal districts. entrance to Louisville via the Obtw or Pennsylvania Bridge remains unclear.
Mrs Ada Dasiey agreed with her late husband William Dasiey that upon either death the survivor would remarry at once. She collected a $35000 life policy after his death and plans to start a business in Vincennes with her second husband Claud Lackes.
John Doolin twenty seven of Steele township drowned at Kitton pond three miles northwest of Phinville. While gigging in shallow water he suffered an epilepsy attack and fell face downward, strangling himself. Son of George Doolin he was buried near Cincinnati schoolhouse after funeral services Tuesday.

The Jasonville School District in Wright Township faced a dispute over ownership of a $239,000 school building. The township built a fine facility but when Jasonville was incorporated it claimed town ownership, while the township trustee asked the town to assume about $319,900 in indebtedness. The town refused, seeking court possession, yielding an unresolved outcome.
Albert Killion living near Plainville hauled wheat to Odon this week. He refused 1.12 19 at Plainville earlier as unaffordable and now accepts 85 cents per bushel at Odon, preferring the higher price there.
Grace Dobbins of Odon and Louis Seyfort of Indianapolis wed in County Clerk William A. Wallace's office with Rev. J. W. Baker officiating. Deputy Clerk Walters coordinated the license and ceremony as the couple plans to stay near the south side first, then visit Odon and Indianapolis.
Jesse Richardson, once in charge of the old Elacra Tribune, moved to St Joseph Missouri years ago and worked as a printer. He suffered typhoid fever this winter, then underwent skull surgery for a head abscess after partial recovery, leaving part of his skull removed.
The Odon lodge No. 272 K of P held a roll call with forty one members replying. Messages from distant members were read and Chan cellor Commander Forsythe reminded members of the orders ideals and duties. An elegant luncheon followed as six charter members attended. the lodge has been active fifteen years with about eighty five members.
Jason Hedrick, mistaken for a burglar, fatally shot Jesse A. Van Miskle in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, last Friday. Both men had ties to Reeve township. Hedrick and Van Miskle worked in railroad shops and Hedrick fired after a noise at the door, striking Van Miskle in the abdomen and killing him hours later.
Hol Ward suffered a fingertip injury Monday afternoon at a Neeremer planning mill while using a jointer. His index finger was severed when the finger dropped beside a strip narrower than the blade. Drs Rankin and DeMotte attended and amputated the stub above the second joint.
Alfred Sims of seven miles southwest sold his wool to Haven and Abraham. A Shropshire buck fleece weighed seventeen pounds. John Trueblood marketed fleeces weighing bine pounds.
Reports from Mitchell describe millions of small snails displaced by a recent storm. Judge Edwards reportedly disposed of a box containing the slimy creatures, each shell about one eighth of an inch in diameter.
Ed Hays and fellow workers loading a sand car from Utica Illinois discovered a bundle of bonds and notes totaling just over 300000 dollars. Frank Farmer identified a 4000 dollar bond, Emory Voss found a 6000 dollar government bond, and the loot was turned over to Wilmington Bank representatives after a burglarized bank connection emerged.
