Ziba Webster Dies A Well Known City Figure
Ziba Webster, longtime local businessman and respected resident of this city, died at his Elnora Street home last Wednesday. Born March 2, 1848 in Martin County, he was 71. He left a widow Margaret Sargent and seven children, including George of Champaign, Maude Imes of Hammond, and Fletcher of Chicago, plus four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. yesterday with Rev. Edwin Shake officiating, burial at Walnut Hill. he was a member of the M. E. Church.

Auto strike injures local farmer near Plainville
Elmer Ramsey a farmer living about one and a half miles southeast of the city was hurt last Saturday when his car was struck by an approaching vehicle driven by Wm Hubbard of Eaglesville. Ramsey suffered a mangled leg and bruises below the knee and was treated by Dr. Anderson. he is progressing and may be out in a few weeks.

Killed by Mule Near Newberry Farm
Ernest Burkhart a 25 year old farmer from two miles north of Newberry was killed Friday morning on William Killion’s Elmore township farm when a mule kicked him while crossing a ditch. He died about midnight. He leaves a wife Ethel Hoover, a son Willis, parents Frank and Amy Burkhart, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral Sunday at the Christian church in this city with Rev. C H Buchanan. burial Walnut Hill. The crowd at the obsequies was possibly the largest in the city’s history.
