Memorial Services by Knights and Odd Fellows at Good Hope Grove

The Knights of Pythias Lodge and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows hold a union memorial service Sunday at 2:30 PM at Good Hope Grove. Lodges meet at 1:00 and 1:30, form a parade led by the Southern Indiana Band to Walnut Hill Cemetery to decorate graves, then return to the grove for exercises. Local officials include W. S. Bunch as Grand Marshal with aides.

Theater party entertains Stitch and Chatter Club

Vags Taken To Washington After Depot Incident

Three vagrants loitering about the depot Sunday morning tried to ride the local. Marshal Summerville captured them after one fled and hid a heavy iron ring in his hip pocket. They were jailed in Washington on vagrancy charges. One man matched a description of a wanted individual.

Madison Township Telephone Company Holds Quarterly Meeting

The Madison Township Telephone Company held its regular meeting at the K of P hall last Thursday night to elect new officers for the coming year. Carl Ayers was reelected president and O Taylor vice president. Joe Sears secretary and D W Hayes treasurer. A plan to connect switch boards with Flint Ky’e Telephone and extend free service between patrons was approved with a nominal fee for cross lines. Alf Wallace of Pike County Telephone Company sought a connection. a one year connection was granted and Pike County to build the toll line into this switchboard.

Odon Sunday Drives Draw Crowds From Nearby Towns

Odon becomes a popular Sunday destination with ideal roads and shady streets. The grove just inside town attracts many picnickers and a large crowd from Plainville Newberry Epsom Loogootee and Washington.

Will Hold County Eighth Grade Commencement at Washington

The fifth Laiiess county common schools eighth grade commencement will be held at the Christian church in Washington tomorrow at two o’clock. One hundred eighty three pupils passed the exams and will graduate with Washington township leading the list with forty four. Madison township follows with twenty six.
