Leonard Ward Civil War veteran dies aged 79
Leonard Cise Ward longtime Indiana resident and Civil War veteran died at his South Spring Street home after a period of general debility. Born May 21, 1835 in Winesburg Ohio he was 79 and survived by his widow six children thirteen grandchildren two great grandchildren and many friends. Funeral held at the U B church with burial at Walnut Hill cemetery.

Clifton Baum shot his wife twice as she bent at a clothes basket at her parents home in Washington. He surrendered later at West Thirteenth and Walnut streets, asked for coffee, and showed no clear motive. The killing occurred around 4 20 p m. the victim died minutes later.

Mrs. Sarah Kline Dead in Loogootee Home
Mrs. Sarah Kline aged 83 plus, wife of William Kline, died Saturday at the Kline home near Loogootee after a period of declining health worsened by a fall on New Year’s Day. Born in Ohio in 1831 she was married in Bloomington, Illinois, twenty nine years ago and later moved to Loogootee. She leaves her husband and three stepchildren, with funeral Monday at 9 a.m. conducted by Rev. J. H. Furry and burial at Ragiesville.
