Baker Again Corn King Baker Wins 1920 Five Acre Contest
W H Baker of Lyons topped the Purdue State Corn Growers Association five acre contest with 1288 bushels per acre average. Forty seven medalists earned gold for 100 plus bushels, 146 silver for 85 to 100, and 130 bronze for 70 to 85. The state average was 40.5, while the five acre contestants averaged 81.1. Baker’s win marks back to back victories following 1919’s 121 bushels per acre.
