Klansmen Donate Hundred Dollars At Local Church

Five strangers entered United Brethren Church during services in Northern Davies county and donated one hundred dollars to Rev. Jones. The presentation by Ku Klux Klan members, who wore no robes, drew praise from the audience and heightened local interest in the group’s activities statewide.

Mary Margaret Phipps, lifelong resident, dies at 68

Mary Margaret Phipps aged 68 and 22 days died last Saturday at 11 30 a m at her niece Bechtel home from complications of diseases. She was born January 27 1855 in the township and lived on the old home farm before joining Scotland and Mt Olive Baptist churches as a charter member. Never married she lived with relatives after her mother's death and with her niece Mrs Wm Bechtel at death. She leaves a sister Mrs R D Stouts of Odon and four nieces and four nephews. Funeral held at Mc Olive Church Monday at 11 a m with Rev Jones of Washington First Baptist. Burial in Mc Olive Cemetery.

Seneff and Andis United in Marriage Near Elmore Township

Harry J. Seneff a prominent young farmer near the city and Miss Corilla Andis of Burns City were married Tuesday at the M E parsonage with E F Shake officiating. Seneff is the son of William H. Seneff of Elmore township long known in the community. The bride, daughter of Abraham F. Andis of Martin County, will reside on a farm in Elmore township.

A Delce lighting system was installed in J T Pruett’s new ware room. Post-office inspector Lytle checked district office business Friday.

February Birthdays Highlight Month’s Arts History and School Contest

February is praised for music art literature and notable figures like Washington Lincoln Mendelssohn Handel and Edison. The Odon Parent Teachers club announces a school speaking contest for Madison township and Odon pupils with local preliminaries and a March 15 final plus an admission fee to cover prizes. The Sophomore class opened with a program during the opening period last Wednesday.

Myers Graycraft Vows Tie Barr and Bogard Pair

Roland Myers of Barr township and Miss Nelfie Craycraft of Bogard township united in marriage at the M. E. Parsonage with Rev. E F Shake officiating. Attendants were Miss Lola Stanley and Bernard Quilliams. They will reside on a farm near Montgomery.
