Former Odon Woman Amanda Smiley Dies After Long Illness
Amanda M. Smiley aged 57 wife of Milo Smiley longtime Odon resident died last Friday at her country home near Linora after a long cancer battle. She moved from Odon to near Kingra recently and left a large circle of friends. Born to John and Medlaline Fisher in Tuscarawas County Ohio, she moved to Indiana as a child. She married Milo Smiley September 15, 1851. Survived by husband, three sisters, two brothers, and many children including Greg Aphron Ghis lips, Sadie Moerison, Stella Grahais Rey, Mabel and Fovie. She joined local churches early and remained a member of the LU church until death. Funeral held at the Odin church with burial in Walnut.

Scout contest ends after three hour run and badges on display
The boys’ troop wrapped up a three hour contest on February first with winners to be announced next week. Badges are shown at the Rexall store and will be awarded at the next regular meeting one week from Monday night. A neighboring town asked to rent scout uniforms for a play, but refusals were made since uniforms require registered membership. The boy scouts are noted as the only U.S. organization allowed to wear the regulation army uniform, a rule protecting both the scouts and the government from imposters.

Mrs. Casander Flummerfelt formerly of this community died in Springfield Missouri on Saturday. The body was brought home Tuesday and funeral services were held at the ME church with Rev J W Trowbridge presiding. Burial occurred in Sims cemetery near Ruglesville. Maiden name Woodruff she was born December 16 1859 age 57. first husband Frank P Swayze died, second husband Andrew Flummerfelt survives. Four children from first marriage remain: Iizza and Grover Swayze, Mrs John O Maley of Colorado, and Miss Ada Swayze of Springfield. One brother John Woodruff and five sisters also survive.
