Aged Citizen Sarah M Burrell Dies

Mrs. Sarah M. Burrell, aged 81, longtime resident and pioneer of Odors, died yesterday noon after two weeks of illness from heart disease. Born Sarah McCoy in 1856 at New Philadelphia Ohio, she married John Burrell in 1850 and moved to Indiana in 1858. Surviving are six children including J A Burrell and Richard T Burrell. funeral Saturday at 2 PM in the M E church with burial beside her husband in Watuuffab cemetery.

Daviess County Farmers National Farm Loan Association Formed

The first association for the new federal farm loan law organized Tuesday night in Montgomery by Eastern Daviess County farmers. The group plans to secure loans totaling 39 300 with appraisers from the bank and national board determining land value. Members expect funds by mid March from the federal bank at Louisville.

Frank Lucas Killed in Rail Collision near Denville

Frank Lucas formerly of this city and a Southeastern brakeman, 22, was killed in a railroad wreck near Denville Wednesday at 3 30 AM. A foggy switch failure caused a rear collision between an LC freight and the coal train, with Lucas killed instantly in the caboose. The body was found seven hours later and sent to Linton for interment, with funeral arrangements by the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.

East Walnut Pastor Expected to Inherit $166000 from London Banker

Rev. G. P. Crawford of East Walnut Street is named one of six heirs to the estate of John A. Crawford, a London banker and landowner. The share is over $166,000 and will be paid through the U.S. government this year. The English estate settled after 35 years, with the heirs located in America. The heirs include Crawford’s two unheeded uncles’ descendants. one brother died childless. Final settlement rests with the U.S. and Indianapolis federal court. Crawford has not decided how to use the fortune.

Boy Scouts Celebrate Anniversary With Banquet

The local Boy Scout group marked the movement's anniversary last Thursday at U B church with a student led program and banquet in the church basement. Demonstrations in drill work first aid and signaling accompanied readings and songs. A two course luncheon followed as guests mingled.

Work Commences on Indiana Power Line to Elnora

About twenty five men will start building the Indiana Power Co. line to Elnora Monday. Seven mile section between the city and Elmore capitol will gain poles within a week. Elpor? will receive light and power from this city and the Elnora plant will be dismantled after connections are made. The local plant was modern and ample for both cities. motors for businesses are due soon and will be installed once they arrive.

Infant Claude Dean Hamerickhouse Dies at Two

The infant son of Mr and Mrs Wm Hamerickhouse died last Thursday night four miles southwest of the city from spinal trouble He had been ill most of his life and was not yet two years old Funeral services were held Saturday at the U B church with Rev Camp of Bloomfield presiding Burial followed at Walnut Hill.

Watchmaker Baker Undergoes Leg Bone Operation

Loogoctee Sentinel-Byard Baker underwent a surgical operation Friday for relief from a disease affecting a bone in the lower leg. A Vincennes surgeon performed the procedure which involved splitting the flesh and scraping the bone. Baker, known locally for work at the Keck jewelry store as a watchmaker, had a similar operation seven years ago.
