Pigeon Flies With Train Across Arkansas Rail Line
A pigeon that rode Iron Mountain trains between Malvern and Arkadelphia extended trips to Walco and Gordon thirty four miles. Brakemen reported the bird rode ahead of the locomotive and remained in place while the train moved, with no accidents associated to its presence. The plant crews split between viewing it as luck or omen and as a pet. Also noted is William Fairweather winning twenty six ploughing prizes across Wheatland and Big Rock associations over twenty seven years, praising his father's early guidance and methods.
