Richard Boyd Dead After Lingering Illness in Odon Area

Richard Boyd died Friday afternoon about a mile west of Odon after a prolonged illness. Born August 16 1833 in Tuscaras county Ohio he was 78. He married Mary Catharine Conrad in 1857 and had six children four living. Surviving are Calvin Thomas Boyd daughters Mrs Martha Somers Mrs Frank Jacob and Charles Walter Enola and Edgar Boyd. Funeral services were at Good Hope Church with Rev Won Todd officiating and burial at Walnut Will.

Tragic shotgun accident claims Burns City boy Dexter

Dexter Garrett, two, died after a loaded shotgun under a bed discharged while children explored it. Ralph, about 15, released the hammer causing the fatal wound to the left leg near the torso. The family mourns as services were held at the M KE church in Burns City. The father, Frank Garrett, is a well known nurseyman with businesses across Southern Indiana and Illinois.

Farmers Institute Session Set for Elnora January 2

A packed program for the annual Farmers Institute at Elnora on January 2 features W. B. Anderson of Muncie and D. B. Johnson of Mecresville as principal speakers. Anderson discusses Clever Growing in the forenoon and Maintaining Soil Fertility in the afternoon, with Jahison covering Spraying and Spray Mixtures at 2 40. Dr Simeon Martin of Kinora chairs the proceedings for a full, engaging meeting.

Eph Collins Injured In Evening Collision

Eph Collins of this place was seriously injured when his buggy collided with a second rig driven by Qia Fionn and carrying Susie Glover and Lizzie Malone. Collins suffered a broken arm and elbow dislocation. Dr. DeMotte reduced the fracture and dressed the wound. The other occupants were injured but expected to recover.

Owen Skemp journeyed back to Indiana Polis following a brief stay with his parents in the city.

Daviess County State Dues Revealed in December Settlement

Tillman Gaither reports December settlement figures showing amounts due the state from Daviess County including state tax benevolent fund and debt sinking fund. Total state dues amount to 22 504 54 with other listed taxes and local levies. Treasurer Godwin earned 471 25 for collecting taxes and 7 067 31 in delinquent taxes.

Tim Green Buried Vin Green in Mine Accident

Tim Green was buried under a coal fall weighing nearly a ton at the Bicknell mine. He was in a sitting position when the coal struck him, causing a deep scalp wound and extensive bruising. Rescued by fellow workers he survived and was recovering. Green formerly lived in Oden and was well known here.

A M Thomas Former Citizen Dies in Indianapolis

A M Thomas former citizen and merchant died at his Indianapolis home last Wednesday night from organic heart trouble. He left the town seven years ago and ran a business in Indiana polis. He was married to Minnie Barsh and they had two children. Interment took place at Crown Hill Saturday afternoon.
