Nell Lane Dies In Odon After Pneumonia Struggle

Nelle Lane, a best loved Odon resident and eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A Lane, died at home on West Race Street after a pneumonia battle. Born November 28 1893 in the city she was 25 at death and cherished by many. She was a milliner and graduate of the Odon High School class of 1913.

Succumbs to pneumonia Mary Tolliver obituary

Mrs Mary Tolliver wife of Ralph Tolliver and a respected resident died at her home on South Spring Street last Sunday morning from pneumonia after a period of declining health. Born December 2 1873 in Lawrence County Illinois she joined the M E church at seventeen and married Ralph T Tolliver on February 20 1898 to whom she bore six children three of whom died in infancy. For twelve years she had been in failing health yet faced life with optimism. Funeral services were held at her residence Tuesday morning with Rev C Houchanan officiating and burial followed at Wakaut Hill. She leaves a husband three children Vivian Bugs and Ralph Jr, a mother and seven surviving siblings plus in laws and relatives.

Local unit awarded bronze for enlistees list

The CYS Working Reserve received a bronze badge from the government honoring the service of boys who enlisted. A soldier writes from Southampton and later a rest camp in England describing hopes to return by January 15, experiences aboard ship, sightings of Scotland and England, visits to Paris, work details, meals, and gratitude for letters and jokes from Stars and Stripes. He mentions meeting Don Hayes, censorship limits, and plans to visit front lines and Paris before shipping home.

Williams and Emma Seneff Wed at Bride’s Home

Kans D. E. Williams of this city and Miss Emma Seneff of Ottawa Kansas were married last Wednesday in the bride’s parents’ home. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Henry Seneff, has many friends here and in Ottawa. Williams, long employed by Odon Milling Co, will reside in East Odon after returning on the 24th with their good wishes from the entire community.
