Civil War veteran J. W. Whitlock dies at Soldiers Home

J. W. Whitlock a Civil War veteran and former community resident died at Lafayette Soldiers Home last Sunday from complications of diseases and debility. Born April 11 1845 in Oppenheim New York he served with the 25 Independent Battery of New York and left a wife a son and a daughter. Funeral was held from his residence with Rev. Shake in charge and his body was sent to Ohio for burial. The piece also notes a Rexall doll contest with standings for the top ten contestants led by Lucille Ice Marcelo Seneff Mozell Shake and Cathryn Williams.

Edward M Heise a prominent Orleans businessman and Miller died at his home in Orleans last week. He was brother of Mrs Marion Ferguson of this city and helped advance town improvements including the electric and ice plants. He leaves a wife four daughters an aged father two brothers and two sisters. The community mourns his loss as a major asset to Orleans.

Mrs Rebecca Banks Dies in Terre Haute After Surgery

Rebecca A. Banks born September 20 1871 near Elnora Indiana died in Terre Haute after an operation for acute appendicitis. She leaves Sherman Banks husband three children William B Frederick L and Helen S her mother Susanah Flinn two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church in Raglesville with burial in the Raglesville cemetery.
