Local Draft Calls 400 Recruits for Physical Examinations
Four hundred additional registered men received notices Saturday night to report for physical examinations next Thursday through Saturday. In Daviess County the quota rose from 171 to 189 by order of Provost Marshal General Crowder, requiring eighteen more draftees. Auto Crash Near Good Hope Schoolhouse injures mother and child
A car driven by Mrs. Win Winklepleck collided with a buggy driven by Mrs. Roland Arford near the Good Hope schoolhouse on a Tuesday morning. The buggy overturned, a child was thrown to the road, and Mrs. Arford was jolted onto an embankment. the horse ran away. Both Mrs. Arford and the child suffered only minor injuries while others were shaken but unharmed.
