Young man dies amid conscription fears in Ottawa
Doings trace a 28 year old man from the community who took his own life rather than face conscription. He was to marry a prominent local woman and his death prompted telegrams to his sister Mrs Huette Poindexter and brother Dennis. The body rested at a Ottawa area cemetery after services at his home.

Dislocated Shoulder After Surrey Accident
Ralph Richardson was injured Monday when a two seated surrey collided with three men near Marsh. In a scuffle he dodged a blow, his leg caught in the front wheel, and the wheels passed over him. Dr. Anderson reset a dislocated left shoulder after anesthesia.

County draft board sets medical exam dates and quota plan
The county exemption board routes August 20 21 and 22 as tentative exam dates for the 400 registrants. They aim to complete a 171 man quota and add ten percent for rejections at mobilization.
