Death of Mrs. Sarah Winklepleck A Longtime Indiana Resident

Mrs. Sarah Freed Winklepleck a respected community member died last Tuesday at her daughter Mrs. H E Ward’s home near the city Born May 9 1847 in Tuscarawas County Ohio she was 69 She came to Indiana in 1845 married Nathan F Winklepleck in 1867 and left two sons six daughters survivors include Clara Ward Lena Cunningham Edwin others Roy and Kia Whiten A sister and eight grandchildren She had joined the Methodist Church and lived a devout life The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 30 PM at the Meihecist church in Ue CILY with Rev L B Jones officiating Burial at Walnut Hill.

Car Turns Turtle Near Linton on Monday Afternoon

The car of Alva Sims rolled over after skidding into a ditch while trying to pass another vehicle between Linton and Newberry. Everyone escaped with minor bruises and scratches though the car was badly damaged. Harry Cooper drove the car. passengers were Hobart Ledgerwood Ed Seneff and Ed Wikey.

Daisy Harper Read dies at age thirteen near Kilgore

Daisy Harper daughter of Mr and Mrs Oscar Harper died at home three miles south of the city last Sunday night at 10:00 due to intestinal overculation. She leaves a father mother three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at the residence and burial followed at Kilgore Cemetery.

Old Resident Leonard Mowery Passes At 93 in Rural Home

Leonard Mowery longtime community resident died last Saturday at his home five miles east of town from general debility. Born January 13 1832 he was 93 years old. He fathered ten children six survive two daughters and four sons along with his wife and many grandchildren. A Civil War veteran he joined the Methodist Church young and later the United Brethren Church. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at Mt Zion with Rev Trowbridge in charge and he was buried there.

Community Park Cleanup Planned At Local Playground

A city park cleanup is set for Tuesday afternoon at 1. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes shovels and any needed tools to help restore the playground in best possible condition. Lemonade will be provided for all attendees.

Horning on mound strikes out sixteen in Sox win

Horning pitched for the Qdon White Sox, fanning sixteen Worthington batters in a 9 to 6 victory on the Worthington lot. The game featured numerous errors by Worthington and scattered hits by the Sox, with Worthington scoring in most innings except the ninth.

Mrs Harvey Wright a respected community member died last Wednesday at her home one mile west of town from typhoid fever. Born Sarah Steel Wright in Indianapolis November 23 1863 she married Harvey Wright in March 1882 and leaves three children May Ellis S G Wright and Blanche Wright plus brothers Ben and Will. The funeral is set for 10 30 this morning at the residence with Rev C H Buchanan. burial will follow at Walnut Hill.
