Caldwell Duncannon Couple Wed In South Odon

Lillian Marie Duncannon married Harry M Caldwell of Terre Haute Sunday afternoon at five at the Duncannon home in South Odon. Rev Buchanan officiated before about forty five guests. The bride wore white with a long veil and carried flowers. After the ceremony guests served ice cream and cake. The couple left by the 5 3 train for Terre Haute to begin life on a farm near that city.

Engine 401 Back On The Road After Flood Tragedy

Engine 401, famed for breaking through Blue Hole trestle during the worst flood, is back in service after months underwater in White River. It shows a polished exterior, underwent extensive repairs costing thousands, and a new tender was required as the original was never recovered.

Death of Mrs Mildred Culmer Mitchell in Dodge Georgia

Mrs Mildred Culmer Mitchell age 24 of Dodge Georgia died Wednesday July 80 after a prolonged illness. She was born in Odon daughter of Steven and Fannie Culmer a graduate of Odon High School class of 1908 a musician with many friends. Survived by husband J Parmenter Mitchell and daughter Fannie Louise sister Orpha in Montana and her mother. Remains arrived by South bound train yesterday funeral at M E church at 10 this morning Rev Lester presiding burial Walnut Hill.

No Rain Spoiled by Light Storm and Fatal Lightning

Despite expectations of rain on Wednesday, only a light shower fell and a strong wind accompanied by a display of electricity caused damage west of town. Lightning struck a horse owned by Seth Cunningham, killing it and injuring another, while William Neeremer’s barn was unroofed and corn blown down. The heat following the shower was nearly unbearable.

Auto Accident on Brewer Hill Causes Severe Car Damage

Last Tuesday morning on Odon Newberry road near Brewer's hill a traveling man and Dion Slinkard escaped serious injury when the car rolled backward down the hill after braking failed. Slinkard strained his hip while trying to hold the vehicle as it plunged about 75 feet off an embankment. Dr. Hamilton aided the traveler who narrowly escaped harm.

Child passes away of Darrough family

Ruth Darrough, the five years old daughter of Mr and Mrs Ervin Darrough, died at their home five miles southwest of here after a three day illness. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday with Rev Will Todd officiating and burial followed at Concord cemetery.

White Sox Fall to Bedford Athletics in Sunday Game

The White Sox suffered their first defeat since the new organization, losing to the Bedford Athletics at Bedford. A costly sixth inning with errors and walks doomed the locals, despite Cooper starting and H Sears finishing. Miss Vivian Spurgeon entertained about 35 of her little girl friends Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 to mark her fifth birthday anniversary. The party featured games and refreshments of bananas ice cream cake and iced tea with many presents given to the guest of honor.

C and E I Trains Release New Schedule

The C and E I line announced a new timetable effective August 1. Earlier reports said service would drop to three trains per direction daily and this curtailment is confirmed with trains 10 and 31 removed.

Tom Resler, living four miles west, crushed all records with 43 bushels per acre on 83 cent an acre wheat. The grain was weighed at the Escora grain elevating shortly after threshing last Friday.

County Auditor appoints B. Ms. Jackman to fill the vacancy in Reeve township after R. Cox resigned last Saturday. Jackman, a Democrat about fifty, receives complimentary mentions from neighbors and has no prior candidacy history.

Mrs Ida Gray Killed by Street Car in Washington

Mrs Ida Gray wife of Albert Gray of Washington a laborer at the shops was struck by a westbound street car Friday afternoon. She died fifteen minutes after the accident from injuries to her legs and broken limb. Her little daughter with her escaped unharmed.

Dedicate Monument On October Eighth

The G A R post at Washington plans to dedicate a monument on October 8 the Perryville battle anniversary. The effort mirrors the soldiers and sailors statue at the courthouse lawn costing about 318 000. Arrangements chaired by Charles Peek R A Bell James Porter Captain J A Palmer WW P Elis and George McBride. Daviess County volunteers reportedly played a large role in the battle.
