Odon High School Seniors Earn Diplomas in Fine Ceremony

A large audience welcomed the Odon High School Senior Class as they made their final appearance and received fourteen diplomas. Rev. Chavez gave the invocation, the U S orchestra provided music, and Roscoe Gilmore Stott of Franklin delivered the graduation address. Supt. Childress presented the diplomas as Rev. Ernest Roberts offered the benediction.

Malone seeks seven thousand five hundred alimony in divorce

Lulu Malone of this city petitions the Daviess Circuit Court for alimony of 7502 dollars citing 41 years of marriage to Samuel K. Malone. She claims he owns real estate worth 20000 and personal property of 1200, separation dated Apr 15, and accuses him of withholding support, cursing, striking, and immoral conduct.

Lady Louisa Lane Howell Dies at 74 in Elnora Area

Mrs. Louisa Lane Howell aged 74 died last Thursday at her daughter Mrs. Lew Core's home five miles southwest of the city after a brief illness. She had lived with her daughter in later years. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Elnora with Rev. Darby of Washington officiating.

Hayes and Freeman wedding at Freeman home

Miss Edythe Freeman and Don W. Hayes were married at the Freeman home with Rev. E F Shake officiating. Guests included Rev E F Shake and family, Rev Ernest Roberts and Mrs Roberts, and Mr and Mrs Joe Glover of Washington. The couple will live in Linton after a luncheon and a motor trip.

Shower honors Miss Edythe Freeman before marriage

About seventy five members of the M. E. and U. B. churches and friends hosted an aluminum shower for Miss Edythe Freeman last Thursday night ahead of her marriage which occurred the following Sunday. Her girl friends had given a miscellaneous shower the Tuesday before and she received a fine collection of gifts and ware.

Junior Senior Banquet at C. H. S. delight students

The Junior class hosted the Senior class for a sumptuous Monday banquet. The hall used Pekin blue old rose and cream crimson colors with red carnations as favors. Ministers teachers and students delivered toasts. A multi course menu followed including noodle soup pickles chicken mashed potatoes macaroni and cheese coffee fruit jello oyster dressing and angel food cake.

Miss Mary Zigler remains ill at her sister Mrs Tom Myers south of Ragleville. Lee Wadsworth visits his father Peter Wadsworth east of the village. Dennis Riggins and wife of Martin County visit C M Riggins near Ragleville. Russi Wadsworth and family attend a track meet in Linton. A M Clark and Oral Riggins near completion of a new garage. Dean Evans returns from Owaneco. Mrs D V Cayness and Miss Elen Burress visit Mrs T G Wadsworth. Fruit prospects are poor except for blackberries. Mrs Will Hubbard in fragile health.

Aged Woman Julia Stewart Dies in East Odon

Julia Stewart an elderly resident of this city died at her home in east Odon last Wednesday afternoon of apoplexy. She was about 76 and spent most of her life in the community. She is survived by a daughter Mrs Lucy Kinneman of Bicknall eight grandchildren and a sister Mrs Sarah Arney of Coalmont. Funeral services will be held at the UK church today at 2:30 with Rev Roberts in charge and burial at Walnut Hill. She was a member of the UB church.

Little Girl Dies of Diphtheria in Local Home

Clara the daughter of Mr and Mrs Paris Hasting died Friday at home west of the city from diphtheria contracted a week earlier. Born May 15 1918 she would have been three next month. She leaves two brothers Rex and Donovan. An outdoor funeral was held at Walnut Hill Saturday at 4:00 with Rev R R Cleaver officiating. Burial followed in Walnut Hill cemetery.

James Webster Dies Near Burns City at 70

James Webster age about 70, resident near Burns City, died at his home April 13. He was born March 11, 1851 in Virginia, son of Richard and Survilla Webster. Survived by wife Rose, children Richard M, William C, Angie, Noble, Emery, Ira, Ethel, Enid Davies, Erna, 29 grandchildren. Funeral at Burns City Christian Church April 15, Rev R R Chaver presided. burial Burns City Cemetery.

Birthday Celebration for Mrs. Bechtel Near City

About ninety guests gathered at Mrs. Frank Bechtel's home four miles west of the city last Sunday to mark her forty eighth birthday anniversary. A bountiful noon dinner followed by an enjoyable afternoon ended with warm wishes for many more celebrations.
