Death of Herbert Helm Narrows in West Odon

Herbert Helm age 18 19 died at home in west Odon last Wednesday night from tuberculosis after a year long illness. He graduated with the class of 1920 from local high school and was active in the Methodist church. He is survived by his parents and sister Ethel Rosemary with many relatives and friends mourning his loss. Funeral services set for Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Roberts and Rev. Shake officiating. Burial at Walnut Hill.

Odon High to Hold Commencement at First Christian Church

Odon High School will hold its commencement next Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church. Fourteen graduates will receive diplomas, with Roscoe Graham Scott of Franklin delivering the address. Supt. L. E. Childress praised for leadership. admission set at 25 and 35 cents.

A new ice coal feed firm formed by Ernest Brady and Truman Flint will operate from the Flint packing and storage building on Grove street with regular summer ice delivery.

Baccalaureate to be Held at Odon High School

The baccalaureate sermon for the Odon High School class of fourteen will be delivered by Rev. Edwin Shake at the First Christian Church Sunday at 8 00 P M. The program includes invocations readings and hymns performed by the Girls Glee Club with piano by Pauline DeMotte and musical direction by Mrs John F Musselman.

Death claims Reese Elkins in Odon area

Reese Elkins died at his home east of the city last Thursday morning after months of illness from tuberculosis. Born in 1997, he was 24, a World War I veteran and member of the Christian church of Odon. Services were held Saturday at 9 30 a m with Rev R R Chaver, and the body was taken to Edwardsport for burial.

John Sims and son Alden passed through enroute to Loogootee. Ada Evans attended teachers institute at Center. About 35 friends gathered at Seamon Stuffie’s Sunday for a birthday reminder.
