Fire Devastates Residence in Elnora Near Church
A Monday afternoon blaze destroyed Joe Bobbit’s eight room two story home in northeast Elnora near the old Christian church. Firefighters could not save the structure and most furnishings burned though much clothing and bedding were saved. Loss estimated around 800 dollars with 800 insurance. A robe was reported lost and a reward offered for its finder. Also listed is a Durham horse foal for sale by Noah Sims of Burns City, Ind.
Indiana G A R encampment parade in South Bend May 22
The Indiana Grand Army of the Republic holds its South Bend encampment May 21 to 28 with Daviess county delegates preparing to attend. Dan Waugh and John R. Fesler issued orders. Edward P. Chapin is officer of the day and John S. Steele officer of the guard. The May 22 parade at 2 PM is led by David Strouse and J. W. Clemson. campfires occur nightly and the election is May 23 at 8:30 PM. M. H. Trimble will attend one day. Knights town band provides music.
