Taxes To Trustees Under New 1911 Law
The 1911 law authorizes township trustees to deduct delinquent county taxes from sums due individuals for township work and supplies. The county auditor lists delinquents, trustees verify and deduct tax amounts, and repayments flow back through the system to the county treasurer.
Hasler Farm Sold in Major Martin County Deal
The Hindostan river farm of 800 acres owned by Pater A Hasler was sold to Ida Iellimen and husband of Vincennes after a month of negotiations. E McParinad and MR Moser engineered the sale for about 45000 dollars. Mr and Mrs Kellans will move there to make it their permanent home.

176 Eighth Grade Pupils Pass in County Exams
County superintendent A O Fulkerson completed grading the last of 221 manuscripts from ten townships. Of 321 pupils who took the March exam 176 passed. a second exam will be held April 20 for those who failed or were absent. March Health Report in Daviess County Shows Growth
The March health report notes prosperity along the health line with February setting records and March matching prior peaks. Two infectious diseases were reported scarlet fever and typhoid fever with one case each. The month recorded forty five births thirty nine male and female counts, fifteen marriages, and twenty three deaths. Mumps in the city mainly affects school children.
