Odon High School Plans Commencement at Christian Church

The Odon High School commencement will be held at the Christian church next Thursday evening with Dr. Wirt Lowther of Logansport delivering the address. The event features music by the High School Chorus and Girls Glee Club, diplomas presented by Supt. J. K. McCarter, and a class of twenty one students led by president Russell J. McCallian.

Chaplain J. G. Breden Ordered to Balboa from Fort Morgan

Word reaches here that J. G. Breden formerly of this city now serves as army chaplain and has orders to go to Balboa. He was stationed at Fort Morgan Alabama and is a brother to Chas Breden and Walter Breden of this city.

Odon Bride-to-Be Fern Neerieginer to Wed George Kemmis

Miss Fern Neerieginer, a social leader in Odon, will wed Indiana policeman George Kemmis next Sunday at four o'clock in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Neeriemer, in East Odon. Rev. Charles Coleman will officiate. The ceremony will be witnessed by immediate family only, after which the couple will move to Indianapolis.

Lew Jacobs in Critical Stroke Battle in Indianapolis

Lew Jacobs of this city suffered a stroke of paralysis last Saturday night while visiting his daughter Mrs. Dan Dunham in Indianapolis. His daughters Mrs. J A McCoy and Mrs. Marshall Cooper and his son Frank Jacobs left for Indianapolis to be with him. At eighty years old his condition is critical with the entire right side paralyzed.

Y M C A gatherings at three churches and a unity meeting with Indiana Y M C A speakers have been delayed. The union lecture at the Christian church conflicts with the high school baccalaureate, so the events move to Sunday, April 22.

Rev W H Todd Heads New Albany Tornado Housing Drive

Rev W H Todd pastor of the U B church in New Albany was made permanent chairman of the housing committee aiding relief after the tornado. The committee secured new homes for two hundred fifty families and published a list of old and new addresses in the New Albany Daily Ledger on April 6.

Town to hoist 104 foot flag in Odon Saturday

A large gathering is planned in Odon to raise a 104 foot wool flag on a seven foot deep pole. Indiana Power and Water Co will install an electric light at the summit for visibility. A 2:30 pm program features the Band Boy Scouts schoolchildren and Judge M S Hastings of Washington delivering the keynote address.

Pole raising honored by Tarvin farms support

Special credit is given to Lee Tarvin a public spirited farmer north of town for supplying the pole trees at no charge. Tarvin also helped cut the trees load timbers with his team and even diverted his sons from farm work to assist, a gesture the community lauds.

Baccalaureate Address Set at Christian Church

The baccalaureate address to the graduating class will be given Sunday evening by Rev. Ernest Roberts. The event will occur at the Christian church beginning at 7 30 o clock. No tickets are necessary with doors open to everyone.

Van Buren Pioneer Dead After Long Illness

Marka Larper a pioneer of Van Buren township died at home Sunday evening at six due to old age and complications. He was eighty and a well known resident, living in Van Buren township most of his life. Funeral services were held at his house with Rev. G. P. C. of the city in charge and burial occurred in Kilsore cemetery. He is survived by children William John Harper in Van Buren, Mrs Alinty in Madison, Mr Reynolds in Steele, Enola Sinclair in Marti lle, and two brothers and two sisters.
