Liberty Loan Drive Opens With Local Rally and Talks

Town workers launch the largest campaign in the community raising the third Liberty Loan quota. A union meeting at the Christian church featured Rev Koeth and Rev Roberts with Izra Mattingly Ex Mayor McCarty lauding bond sales. Women speakers urged thrift and seed corn testing. music and a dramatic program followed.

War Savings Stamps and Certificates Guide

Thrift Stamps cost 25 cents each with no interest. Buy from postal carriers post office or banks and paste on a free ecard. When full exchange for a War Savings Certificate costing 82.40 for four certificates, maturing January 1 1925 with 4 percent interest quarterly. Certificates may be registered at post offices class I II or III and redeemed for cash with about 3 percent interest.

Coming Marriage Announced For Miss Ethel Cooper

Miss Ethel Cooper announced her approaching marriage to Truman Flint during a party at her home last Wednesday. The Lupitals will wed on Sunday the 28th. Guests received small cards tucked in pink and white carnations as the news was shared. Peaches whipped cream and wafers were served. Cooper is daughter of Leamon Cooper of Taylor Cooper Lumber Co. Flint is son of J O Flint of Flint Produce Co.

Everybody Went to Washington Parade Rally

Crowded roads led to a large demonstration in Washington with a township wide transport for war mothers. The local delegation joined the S.1 Band from this city and traveled about 12:30. Rainy weather did not spoil the parade regarded as a great success with Sousas Marine Band among the leading attractions.

Surprise party honors Ketchem on thirty third birthday

Mrs J Q Ketchem hosted a surprise party for her husband as guests enjoyed games, a feast of ice cream and cake, and a decorated table with ferns and apple blossoms. The birthday cake bore thirty three candles. Edith Quackenbush attended a farewell for Mrs Deck and children moving to Akron Ohio. Joe Hasler and Elmer York visited Jacob Shields on Sunday afternoon.
