Mrs. Johnson Dead After Long Illness in Newberry
Lydia Overton Johnson a longtime Newberry resident formerly of Madison township died at her daughter's home in Newberry on Saturday at age 70 after paralysis and other ailments. Surviving are six sons and one daughter, two brothers, and her husband Brinson B. Johnson who died years ago. Funeral services were held at Good Hope with Rev. W. J. Johnson and Rev. Schoonover officiating. interment followed at Walnut Hall.

Meteor Sighted Over Oakland City Indiana
A dazzling bolt shot from the sky Tuesday night at eleven o'clock over Oakland City Indiana followed seconds later by a loud explosion heard across the county. Residents reported blinding light and a pyrotechnic display. no meteor fragment was found. The disintegration is believed to have occurred about one mile west of Oakland City.

Leg Shot Report From Vincennes Police Incident
Louis Gasser of Washington was shot in the leg by a Vincennes officer Tuesday while breaking from custody and attempting a swift getaway. The officer reportedly fired three bullets as Gasser darted away, one bullet lodging in the leg.
