Local residents report visits from Will Malone and family in Burns City. Franklin, Blomington, Eaglesville, Shoals, and Chicago linked through weekend calls. Easter services and school commencement plans noted with taxes and fashion ads included.
Ernest Paul Myers son of Mr and Mrs Paul Myers of near the city died Sunday after a short influenza illness. He fell ill Saturday as recovery seemed near then relapsed and passed away about 3 am Sunday. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday at 10 with Rev R T Gwyn officiating and burial followed at Walnut Hill.
Lola M Crane died at her home southwest of the city last Sunday April 1 from tuberculosis. She was a daughter of Andrew and unnamed Jones, mother of four, survived by husband Lewis Crane. Funeral held at the Christian church in Burns City Tuesday with Rev Buchanan officiating. Burial followed in the Burns City cemetery.
Mrs Ada Burch 57 mother of one child died at home in Plainville after four weeks of pneumonia fever. Daughter of William Ward she is survived by husband, daughter, three sisters and one brother. Funeral from United Brethren church Plainview on Tuesday at two, burial in Curnettsville cemetery.
Amos R Stelcup a longtime Elmora resident died at his home last Friday after a period of debility. He was 76 and well known in the county for years in the hotel business. The funeral was held Sunday at Elnora.

Miss Evelyn Sharum of Washington and Mr Roy Hinkle of this city wed at the First Christian Church parsonage in Washington last Saturday evening. Rev LeRoy Sareent officiated. Only attendants were Anna Sharum and Mabel Biddinger. The bride wore peacock blue canton crepe with American beauty rosebuds. The couple will reside in Odon.
Louis Baugeret of Chicago and Miss Alice Correll of Jacksonville wed Tuesday evening at eight in the parsonage of the Congregational Church with Rev Stickney officiating. Only attendant was Claudean Correll, sister of the bride. The bride, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Dean Correll, has worked with JC Capps and Sons. The groom is son of Mrs Clara Baugeret of Lincoln and has lived in Chicago. They left for Chicago to reside after the ceremony.
Wirtzel Rosenberry a farmer near this city owns a Duroc brood sow that has produced 55 pigs across three litters. She farrowed 16 in the first litter 19 in the second and 20 this week. Four piglets in the last litter died but sixteen survived.
Relatives and friends gathered at Mrs Jane Boyd's home in west Odon to celebrate her 66th birthday anniversary. Her Urbana Illinois daughter Mrs Edgar Moore and grandchildren arrived from Urbana for the surprise. A noon dinner was served and the birthday cake featured candles for each year of her age.
The sixty six Sunday Schools of Daviess County plan a two day convention in Odon on April 15 with sessions at the First Christian Church. Four sessions will cover the agenda with speakers music and readings. The program will be published next week in the Journal.
Local visits include Mr and Mrs J H Flynn visiting Mrs Flynn in Oaktown. Lena Morris of Shoals visited Mrs M E Pickett. Dr Chas Seal and Russell Seal of Petersburg called on their parents. Russell DeMotte visited Bloomington parents. Mrs Lucy Holt stayed with J O Shimp in Washington. Rev S J Shake and family returned from Farmersburg after a week here. Elnora High School holds annual commencement Apr 30 with Maynard Lee Daggy delivering address. class size 24. Purdue baseball may rely on J W Campbell from Elnora as pitcher. Burdsal Paint advertised for home projects at Rexall Store. William H McCarter celebrated 76th birthday with 125 guests east of town.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Duvall return ed to their home in Chicago Sunday after a short visit with relatives in this city.
