Jacksonville Public Library halted giving Hogwarts Certificate of Accomplishment after parents and churches objected to perceived witchcraft. About 200 children received the certificate July 8 during a Harry Potter book release party.

Paramedic dies after gunshot during training drill
Sarasota Florida AP reports paramedic Michael Yahraus aged 32 died after a training exercise went wrong. He acted as a police officer during a traffic stop with an instructor using a blank 38 caliber weapon. The weapon discharged when a plug ejected and struck the man in the left eye. The instructor is on routine leave and ballistic tests plus weapon inspections are underway.
