Odessa bank sued settles for about 2.1 million
The FDIC announced a civil settlement of roughly 2.1 million with North River Insurance Co. and 14 officers and directors of the defunct National Bank of Odessa. Kenneth Jumper paid 400,000 and Rick Jumper 100,000 in an agreed judgment while other terms remain private. None admitted liability.

Cable company to crack down on illegal cable taps in Odessa
Capital Cities Cable Television of Odessa plans a three month amnesty followed by prosecutions for illegal taps. Gov White signed a law raising penalties to $1,000 fines and up to 180 days in jail with court injunctions and triple damages.
