The Midland Odessa Regional Transportation Study reveals projects in Odessa and Midland costing 10 to 12 million dollars to be completed within five years. A Friday public meeting will discuss reconstruction of West County Road from 16th Street to Kermit Highway and Yukon Road from Ector Avenue to West County Road, plus Loop 250 frontage road and U S 80 rebuilds. Odessa College Offers Free Hydrogen Sulfide Training
In response to oil field hazards in the Permian Basin Odessa College will host a free one day hydrogen sulfide training program from 8 30 a m to 4 30 p m Thursday in the Electronics Technology Building Room 120. OC petroleum program director Tommy Hill notes the gas is the second most lethal but can be handled safely by trained personnel through proper safety and rescue procedures.

Skelton juror selection nears full panel
Five potential jurors were questioned but none selected as the second week of jury selection in the John C. Skelton capital murder case ended Friday with nine jurors and two alternates yet to be chosen. Louisiana settles with plane crash victim for 750000
Louisiana reached a 750000 out of court settlement with Randy Sellars one of five victims of a Department of Corrections plane crash in Midland last fall. Sellars received burns over 85 percent of his body and will receive 109334 dollars a year for life in addition to an initial payment. A separate suit sought 6550000 dollars in punitive damages.

Man arrested after attack on policeman in Odessa
An Odessa man was arrested after an 8 30 p.m. scuffle at Medical Center Hospital in which Officer R D Scroggs was punched and a nurse kicked. The officer continued working. the nurse escaped serious injury. The man, who had fallen earlier, was being released from hospital when the incident occurred.
