U N relief boat delivers food to Mogadishu port
A United Nations boat carrying 4 000 tons of food for famine struck Somalia arrived in Mogadishu and will begin unloading Saturday. The World Food Program says the supplies worth 10 million dollars from Saudi Arabia, plus 7 000 tons last week, can feed about 1 million people for a month. This is the third UN boat to reach Mogadishu since the port reopened last month amid fighting between forces loyal to interim President Ali Mahdi Mohamad and General Mohamed Farrah Aidid, which has displaced hundreds of thousands.
