Catholic bishops weigh fair treatment for women in church policy
The 1990s era draft from 24 Catholic groups tackles sexism and equal worth for women while upholding the male priesthood rule. It condemns sexism, calls for fairness in society, and seeks ways to assist women, though critics say it remains inconsistent by not lifting ordination limits. The draft, discussed at Notre Dame, faces open hearings and November votes.
