Christmas Village Rebuilt After 82 Arsonist Fire

Bridgeport residents rally to restore the city’s Christmas Village after an arson attack last year. Volunteers, toy makers, and businesses donated toys worth over $11,000, boosting visitors from about 25,000 yearly to 60,000 last season and potentially 50,000 this year. New York to hire paint spraying garbage truck robot

The Sanitation Department plans to place a $372,000 robotic painter at the Central Repair Shop next spring to simulate human arm motions and repaint garbage trucks. Officials say it could save about $44,000 yearly over a 20 to 25 year life while improving the city’s image. The union backs the move despite reducing one job, describing it as an unliked but necessary modernization.
