Nutley school salaries are about level with other towns. Kindergarten and high school pay run slightly above average, while higher primary through grammar grades lag behind. County Supt Morelock backs a new elementary school and praises Beachler’s survey. Fire drills, bills, and Federation bills occupy the meeting.
The Friday Afternoon Club held its annual election at Mrs. Edgar T. Humphrey s Prospect Street home. Officers chosen were President Mrs. Harry D. Finn, Vice President Mrs. John J. Robertson, Secretary Mrs. Thaddeus L. Brown, and Treasurer Mrs. A Middleton Slaughter.
The Tuesday Afternoon Shakespeare Class announces new dates for readings by Mrs. Easton Shaw. The April 4 Saturday afternoon and April 14 Tuesday night sessions will cover Tomorrow and The Rubaiyat of Omar. Tickets available from members.

Stephen P. Vreeland, 72, Nutley native and longtime water clerk, died suddenly while dining at his Dryden home. The service was held at his cousin Arthur L. Vreeland’s house in Nutley with Rev. Powers officiating, followed by burial in Methodist Cemetery. He served in the Civil War, led G A R posts, and is survived by his widow and two Nutley sisters.
Mrs Jessie M Kirk hosted a luncheon and shower for Edith Geddes of New York City at her parents Prospect Street home on Wednesday. Miss Keyes' Aesthetic Dancing Class at Nutley School presented an Afternoon program featuring dances such as The Nightingale by Nathalie Slaughter Ethel Powers Gertrude Kinsley and Margaret Dickinson and French pieces Jean and Jeanette by Margaret Michael Harriet Herstoff plus Japanese Italian Moon Moths and Fairy Queen numbers. Eddie Nugent of the New York Athletic Club trained by Alphens Geer in his second year shows strong form in the Metropolitan District Boxing Tournament. He advanced to the finals after a win over McCauley on points, using head work to control the bout. Nugent is favored to win the title in tonight's final after a clear performance.
Maunder's From Olivet to Calvary will be performed Palm Sunday night April 5 at Grace Church by the vested choir with two soloists J Warren Knapp tenor and Jackson C Kinsey baritone both Mendelssohn Glee Club members New York Miss Louise Van Wagenen leads the choir and arranges the program.
Miss Rone Werner of 187 Pranklin avenue and Harry Gillmann of John street will marry this evening in a ceremony conducted by Rev. Milton Stauffer of the Reformed Church.

A catalog selling agent posing as a stamping and coupon redemption service toured Nutley. He claimed to redeem trading stamps tobacco coupons and ship wrappers for customers. Police stopped him after a call from Thomas Van Buren. A later week a woman was said to run a similar scheme. An alleged bogus canvasser for a women’s magazine was also reported. the magazine promised reimbursement with receipts.
James Falcone aged six at 18 King Street Belleville found a loaded revolver in the Sponsato home on Hancox Avenue. He fired killing his sister Ron Falcone aged five last Sunday afternoon. The boy said he pulled the trigger with effort and the police ruled the shooting accidental with no action to be taken.
The Ladies Missionary Society of St Pauls Congregational Church will hold an April meeting at the home of Mrs W E Erler 3 Terrace Avenue Wednesday afternoon at seven thirty under the leadership of Mrs A T Jackman. The discussion title is Some Immigrant Neighbors.
Dr Albert F Zackson of Franklin Avenue will relocate to a new residence at Hillside and Hawthorne Avenues on Monday.

About eighty members of Naval Camp No 49 of Brooklyn are sent to the Mexican border for patrol duty this week. The unit will conduct border surveillance and assist in security operations under orders from military authorities.
