Street Lights At Lower Rate Cut Costs For Town
The commissioners learned a five year contract with Public Service will cut annual street light costs by about 500 dollars. Current bills total 8963 dollars for 24 large 950 candle bulbs and 864 small 40 candle bulbs. New rates drop big lamps to 71.62 and small to 18.96 with discounts for the term. Protests over sidewalk work on Hillside avenue were read and one owner may lay the sidewalk if the project proceeds. A dispute over widening Coayman avenue was referred to assessors over damages. Petitions for sidewalk improvements on Passaic and Sylvan Place were granted.
