Nutley's Storm Toll and Power Outages

Nutley escaped the worst of last Sunday's storm though lights and telegraph service were disrupted. The de Lukacsevics factory on Bloomfield Avenue suffered roof collapse causing heavy, uninsured losses estimated at 15 000 to 20 000 dollars. Park Photo Play Place faced blackout while Public Service Electric curtailed power to prevent hazards. Police posted at fixed posts to coordinate alarms as telephones failed. Erie Railroad and trolley service remained functional to New York, with Delawanna drift blocking Palaski access for days.

Postponed Organ Recital Rescheduled for March 30

The organ recital at St. Pauls Church, postponed due to darkness, will be held March 30. The Ladies Missionary Society plans a Wednesday social “An Evening in China” with curios and relics on display for children at 3 30 in the afternoon. Miss Wheeler, a missionary, will speak in costume.

A special lecture will be held tomorrow night at Grace Church titled Who Wrote the Bible. The program will explore authorship of biblical texts and related questions.

Nutley High Earns Stevens Institute Entrance Privilege

Nutley High School is placed on Stevens Institute of Technology approved list for sending graduates on certificate. Graduates gained admission to most colleges without condition, Harvard Yale Columbia Princeton Stevens required exams. Recognition stems from high scholarship and policy to certify only top students.

Garrison Dies After Lingering Illness at 38

Frank Connell Garrison, 38, died Wednesday at his Nutley home after years of illness. Funeral services were held from his residence with Rev. W Douglas Matthews officiating and burial in Methodist Cemetery. He served in the Spanish War and is survived by his wife Marion Hensby, one child, three sisters, and his stepmother.

Child Dies While Mother Lies Ill in Hospital

Gladys Zoerner nine year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Zoerner of 249 Kingsland street died Wednesday afternoon after a two days illness of diphtheria. Her mother remains at Passaic General Hospital four weeks following an operation. Funeral held privately and burial at First Reformed Cemetery Passaic. It is the second family death in two weeks following the grandmother Mars Herman Zoerner.

Socialism Talks by Cairns and Gardner at Woman's Club

Belleville Man Held For Hat Theft Trial

Curt Kunce of 75 Kamiah street Belleville faces trial before Judge Past on a hat theft charge by conductor Paul Santtre. Kunce alleges the hat was taken during a dispute after trolley workers annoyed him at the Big Tree barn. Patrolman Jameson made the arrest.

Samuel H Barron Dies Suddenly in Brooklyn

Samuel H. Barron, formerly a Nutley resident for years, died suddenly yesterday in Flatbush Brooklyn after living at 89 Kingston Avenue. He formerly ran Barrons Buffets in New York and later worked in insurance. Survived by wife, daughter Mya, son Chester Barron, and Raymond Lansin g of New York. Funeral plans not yet announced.
