Nutley likely will not receive a dedicated telephone central office for years. Charles F. McCord of the Passaic NY Telephone Company argues the present system provides better service than any central, would require rented space and few operators, and would waste $30,000 spent on Nutley equipment last year. He adds the Passaic plan already serves Nutley with efficient coverage.

Auto Crash at Belleville Turnpike Ends with Settled Dispute
Police from two counties responded after a Tuesday night collision at Belleville turnpike and Kearny avenue in North Arlington. One car belonged to William K. Donaldson of this town, the other to James Burns of Kearny. The incident marked the second crash at the intersection in three days. Burns demanded Donaldson be arrested, but the matter was resolved between the drivers. Both vehicles sustained damage.
