New Jersey Telephone Directory Shows Rise in Usage
The fall and winter edition of the New Jersey telephone directory, distributed by the New York Telephone Company, lists about 123 000 names with an expected circulation around 165 000. The summer book had 126 500 names and 164 000 circulation. The new directory uses a typeface similar to the old one but is easier to read, based on legibility tests. The request to use only the new directory aims to cut delays from out of date information when looking up numbers.
