Post Office staff plan to relocate from Town Hall near Vreeland to a new Franklin Avenue site after hours. Superintendent Drake will oversee setup with postal authority approval. Mechanics work overtime as contractors finish a modern lobby, compact work areas, private boxes, and secure money drawers.
Randall G Worden, physical director of Newark Public Schools, will speak on Physical Training Monday afternoon December 6 at 3 30 in Park School under the Woman's Public School Auxiliary.
At Crystal Lodge smoker in Trenton Knights of Pythias presented 25 year jewels to Augustus Pingree Robert Connolly and James M Vreeland. Elmer E Margerum Grand Keeper of Records and Seals spoke on Pythianism as about 2000 attended with cabaret program and lodge orchestra. Next meeting will elect Grand Lodge officers.
John E. Lux son of former Mayor Lux from Prospect Street was hospitalized at St Mary's Hospital on Thanksgiving Day with a possible broken neck. He returned home the next morning and is not expected to return to business for several weeks. An X ray last Saturday showed a very slight dislocation of a neck vertebra.
M. B. Rosenstock chairman of Kempton Council's committee says the bridge and euchre parties are postponed due to the holiday season. New dates will be announced after the holidays are over.
The Nutley Club resumes a postponed dance on Christmas Eve at Town Hall with Ingraham's Society Orchestra providing music. Committee in charge includes Oscar Zindstrom, Milton Ayers, Egbert Chandler, John Reardon and Norman Dannewitz.
The Sophomore Class met with Vice-president Constance Little presiding. Rutgers College civil engineering professor Stewart A. Stephenson spoke on Building Railroads in Porto Rico. Guests included Grammer School upper classes. Deutscher Krein met midweek. Literary Club gathered with Constance Littleway in charge. Senior Class discussed pins and rings. Charles Rapa, ex Barringer athlete, joined the Junior Class.
Rehearsals for the Christmas cantata Santa Claus, Jr. have begun at Washington School under the direction of Miss Susan F. Lockhart. The performance is scheduled for December 47.
The Nutley Board of Commissioners wrestled with a complaint from Sophie Wenzell of New York seeking protection for vacant lots she owns here. Collectors and officials debated where to send the letter and how to address her tax concerns as a discussion devolved into a humorous exchange. The meeting also granted sidewalk and curb work on Barrison Street and Lake Street, approved assessments, and allowed a gasoline pump installation by Natley Vulcanizing Co. on Franklin Avenue.

Rev. Oscar C. Helming formerly of St. Pauls Nutley now leads University Congregational Church Chicago and chairs religious education. He says he tried to intervene as a policeman beat a striking garment worker near the Elderheimer Stein factory on West Jackson Boulevard, was detained 35 minutes, and released on bail. He recalled the officer cursing him and gave badge numbers 3095 and 2289.
Local Knights of Honor unit votes to continue as Progress Benefit Association after the national order dissolves. Members plan incorporation to maintain charitable and communal activities as a death bereft organization.
Natley Lodge of Elks holds memorial service tomorrow at 4 o clock in Masonic Hall lodge-room. Departed members include Frank J Young and John Howe. Program features organist E J Guthrie opening, Exalted Ruler H A Brandreth, memorial hymns and odes, prayers by A F Hartman, eulogies by Daniel F Gavan and William H Parry, and addresses by Mrs A A Hebert Mrs L E Pratt and Mrs E B Pratt.
Nutley Lawn Tennis Club held its annual meeting at H. W. Stoddard’s Hillside avenue home. Elwood Jones won the Men’s Championship Cup. Stella Dickinson the Ladies Championship. Thurston Woodford the Men’s Handicap Cup. Allan Shaw the Junior Cup. Officers elected: President Elwood Jones. Vice-President Thomas Troy. Secretary-Treasurer B. W. Douglas. Executive Committee Edna Lux, Stella Dickinson, G. B. Douglas, H. W. Stoddard, J. H. Wigand, C. T. Woodford. A play and dance were planned for the near future.
Mrs Clarence H Young hosted a Tuesday afternoon tea at Daily street for Mrs Frank Young of Brooklyn formerly of Hawthorne Avenue. Present were Mrs J My Mackay Mrs A S Wildey Mrs B C Boyés of Nutley and Mrs G H Cristenson of Chicago. Mrs Frank Young and her son spent several days in town.

Police predict record attendance for the annual Town Hall dance based on advance ticket sales. Patrolmen Murren Hoch and Werner head the committee. A fragment mentions Mise Ethel Walsh returning home from Asbury Park after visiting Mrs Bennett Morton of Passaicavesug Brookfield Avenue and a bag incident with a sum of money.
The Friday Afternoon Club met at Mrs. Charles S. Lecky’s Enclosure home to study the Realistic Novel. Mrs. Donald McMillan chaired as literary leader, with a good turnout. Ramon Alfonzo read a sketch on William Dean Howells and Mrs. Thomas Clements summarized The Rise of Silas Lapham, while Mrs. Henry J. Condit offered character sketches and Mrs. Carl Barget played a piano solo.
Grace Church prepares a February preaching mission from the 20th to 27th as part of a nationwide Episcopal movement. Rev Fleming James of St Pauls Englewood will preach during the services while Grace Church pastor Rev Douglas Matthews will travel to Englewood and Rutherford for the related exchange February 18-20 and February 27-March 4.
Registration in the evening Vocational School has reached 120. Classes may be held not only at Park School but also at Washington and Lincoln Schools. The home nursing class will be led by Dr. Carter of Newark. First meetings for the millinery classes were held at Park School. Sessions occur Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30 to 9:30. Open to those over seventeen.
Master Ward A Lay piano soloist from the Cathedral of St John the Divine will sing Gounod Ave Maria with violin obbligato by Harold Micklin at Grace Church tomorrow night. Micklin will also perform Thoma Andante Religioso as a prelude and Svensen Romance as a solo. Both young musicians are rapidly rising in the musical world.

Mrs Emil Miller of Hillside Avenue entertained guests Wednesday afternoon for a bridge session. Four tables were in play with high scores by Mrs William J Martin, Mrs William Wallace, Mrs G Willis Leanders, and Mrs Jolt Rieges.
The Bank of Nutley will distribute checks to 100 members of its first Christmas Club on December 15. The club started last year, drew strong deposits, and plans to open another cycle from December 20 to January 22. Deposits end December 7, with accounts reviewed and checks prepared in the following days.
John J Conway longtime Nutley resident and former engineer died at his home 148 Passaic Avenue after years of illness. Born in Dublin he came to the United States in 1857 and was an early St Marys Church communicant. Survived by two sons and a daughter the funeral is set for St Marys Church with High Mass of Requiem and burial in St Peters Cemetery Belleville.
Mrs B M Birdman sister of Mrs Alexander Hayes and Mrs H W Bennett of Mountainview Avenue died last Saturday in Jamaica Plain Massachusetts from pneumonia.
Alvin W Merrill of Elmira father of L L Merrill was killed Saturday near home when knocked from his bicycle by an automobile. The incident occurred on Elmira street as he rode close to his residence. Authorities reported the crash as a fatal road accident.
The Loyal Temperance League for younger folk is being formed under local WCTU branches with Mrs Ira Bingham as Superintendent and Mrs Haugh Eagleson as Assistant. The first meeting will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Efforts aim to interest Young People’s Societies in forming an older group and plan social gatherings for members.
A new Red Cross and Stampa alliance is announced to support relief efforts. The collaboration aims to organize volunteers, collect funds, and provide medical assistance to affected communities.
