Funeral Held for Nutley Resident Otto Bluhm

Funeral services were held for Otto Bluhm at his Whitford avenue home. Rev. Herbert D. Cone officiated with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn. Bluhm, 49, born in Blackheath England, had resided in Nutley for years and recently left the Nutley Board of Health. He died after health declines despite trying health resorts. He had been a candidate for Town Assessor last fall but did not win.

Talk by William J. Kinsley on Luther Burbank visit

William J. Kinsley will address the Women's Public School Auxiliary and friends on Monday afternoon May 3 at the Kinsley residence on Prospect Street. The talk titled A Visit with Luther Burbank the Plant Wizard will recount meeting Burbank in San Francisco and touring his Santa Rosa home and grounds with photographs to be shown.

Bridge Tournament At Nutley Field Club Wins

A duplicate bridge tournament was held at Nutley Field Club on Wednesday night directed by J J Brick of New York. Marshall J Root and Bruck won top score among east and west players while Lamb and Lahens won among north and south. Prizes included silver fern dishes for the ladies and copper cups for the gentlemen. Mr Bruck presented the bridge ping to the two ladies with highest scores Mrs Lamb and Mrs Grace Mattingly of Baltimore.

Board Elects Hill President in Nutley Education Board

The Nutley Board of Education elected George A. Hill as president and Frank T. Shepard as vice president. Committees were named including Finance, Curriculum, Buildings and Property, and Rules. The meeting covered school site options, half year promotions, attendance notes, and library activity. The district census shows 1,400 children ages 4 to 18. The Miss Emma Buehler appointment and a Bronze Tablet fund update were also discussed.

Corner Stone Laid for Nutley Methodist Episcopal Church

The cornerstone of the Nutley Elm Street church was laid with Bishop Neely delivering the address. A time capsule of church documents and periodicals was sealed inside. Prominent clergymen attended, and the building aims to be usable in the fall with completion hoped by year end.
