St Paul May Join Firelands Conference in 1968

Norwalk St Paul Flyers seek admission to the Firelands Conference as an eighth member in 1968. They must secure release from 1968 Lakeshore contracts and arrange to play the Berlin Heights 1968 football schedule before the merger becomes official.

Sesqui Centennial Events Schedule Unveiled In Norwalk

A weekend Sesquicentennial celebration schedule includes a hospitality center at Columbia Gas Co with extended hours and sales, a joint service club luncheon at Eagles Club, a Norwalk delegation greeting at Huron County Courthouse, school band judging, a pep rally, a youth street dance, football parades, doubleheader games, club receptions, a Saturday cartoon show at Norwalk Theater, a Sesquicentennial parade to the fairgrounds and a concert by Bowling Green University Band, with homecoming events and a community service closing.

Police Blockades Planned For Parade In Norwalk

Downtown Norwalk will be largely blocked by noon for a parade starting at 2 p.m. Monroe Street closes Prospect to Milan. at 1 30 p.m police reroute traffic citywide. No parking on Norwood East Main Wooster Foster or Ridge Road detours via South Norwalk Road.

City offices close noon to 1 p.m. for luncheon

Norwalk city offices will shut from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday so staff may attend the sesquicentennial white collar luncheon.

Deficiencies Ground Marine Choppers Delaying Supplies

SAIGON UPI Almost half of Marine helicopters used to deliver food water and ammunition to DMZ outposts have been grounded due to a structural deficiency. Army choppers are assisting while Marines meet commitments with air and truck resupply. CH46 helicopters are restricted to extreme emergencies as tail assemblies deteriorate. Priorities favor ammunition over food and water at Con Thien and other DMZ outposts. Casualties in Vietnam near 100000, according to a US military spokesman.

Six Norwalk High School girls were chosen for the homecoming court after elections on Wednesday and today. The six are Marsha Bowen Nancy Grimmer Judy Olsen Donna Ott Vicky Stacey and Linda Stark. Linda Stark won the queen’s court after a runoff with Beth Baxter.

Musicians Suspended Over Haircuts at Milan-Assistant High

Principal Charles Hall suspended Denny and Bill Earnest from Milan Assistant High for refusing to cut their hair. This marks the third removal in ten days as the duo, part of the band the 59th Street Bridge, say their hair is essential to their act.

Steak dinner fire at Summit Street apartment

Firemen responded to 24 1/2 Summit St at 6 30 pm for a kitchen broiler fire. The occupant identified as Mr Horn reported the steak was pretty well burned in the blaze.

Water Pollution Control Backed in Sandusky Testimony

In Sandusky the Ohio Water Pollution Control Board heard five supporters and one opponent from the Isaac Walton League. Testimony highlighted a plan costing 2.7 million dollars for the Huron River basin and urged stronger testing and broader pollution controls. State officials cited the Portage, Sandusky, and Black Rivers as the main problem areas.
