Napier seeks bankruptcy after husband vanishes

Betty Jo Napier filed for bankruptcy in federal court citing $50,433 of debts against $22,000 in assets after her husband Russell disappeared on August 5. She took over operation of his service station in Kenwood as investigators pursued leads about his missing wrecker and $875 in receipts.

13 Year Old Wakeman Driver Cited in Accident

A thirteen year old Wakeman girl Joyce Compton was cited into Juvenile Court for driving with no operator license after a collision on U S 20 near Berlin Street. No injuries were reported and police gave few details.

Petrosino Heads Tax Study Group In Norwalk

The citizens tax study committee elected Anthony Petrosino as chairman with Michael Rice as vice chair and James McGuire as recording secretary. Meetings set at City Hall on Mondays and Tuesdays until November 19 when a report is due to City Council. Meetings will be closed to the public at the committee's discretion. All members attended except Donald C. Smith. In Seattle, UPI reports the Pentagon plans a 90 000 troop cut in Vietnam over nine months, a figure Melvin Laird says follows methodical planning, not Humphrey style forecasts.

Change Orders of War Bound Troops

UPI reports Saigon US Command will not send a US armored cavalry squadron to Vietnam. The 1094 men from Fort Lewis will have their slots reassigned to units in Vietnam while equipment ships to ARVN. The move preserves the 549,500 troop ceiling and accelerates ARVN and US unit readiness.

Plan to barricade Linwood Avenue Bridge for tall trucks

The Linwood Avenue Bridge will be protected from trucks over nine feet high by a low hanging barricade and overhead control device. Signs and pipe have been ordered and will be installed once materials arrive. A Toledo firm recommends replacing the bridge at an estimated cost of $265,000, warning it may collapse if not replaced or closed.

Pair of Ohio men held for passing counterfeit bills

Two Youngstown men Charles George aged 24 and Robert Poghen aged 25 were arrested at Waterford Park Race Track in Chester West Virginia by track security after allegedly passing 18 counterfeit twenty dollar bills at the $2 show window. Sheriff Joe Rodak said the men were later charged with passing counterfeit currency.
