Lorenzo Frye of Lorain was arrested for drunken driving and no operator license. At 1 30 a m Sunday Sgt David Sattig found him attempting to escape. Frye remains in custody as the investigation continues and is charged with jail escape.
In Shrewsbury a lone man John James remains in his weathered farmhouse with a shotgun as authorities keep the family in quiet and wait for him to rethink his six day standoff. Police line the scene, hoping the quiet will prompt a change in him.
London reports entertainer Sammy Davis Jr reveals a nonmalignant throat growth and says he will travel to the United States within a week to consult a surgeon. He hopes to avoid surgery and may require an extended rest.

A 14 year old, Lance J. Johnson of Monroeville, died after a pickup truck rolled on Mead Road near Route 99. Driver Lewis D. Poths, 17, and passengers were treated at Fisher Titus Hospital after the crash.

In Pike County Ohio a 14 year old boy Paul Prager was killed and a patrolman wounded after a high speed chase. Deputies tracked the suspect from Mrs Betty Peters Rt 1 Waverly, who said her son fired at her before fleeing. The youth ditched the car, ran to a farmhouse porch after an embankment crash.
Richard Barnett, 18, of 48 Corwin Street sustained a bruised leg and knee after being struck near the center line of Route 18 while standing with Gary Champney, 19, in Wakeman area early Sunday. Henry Case, 18, of New London, driving, said the men were left of the center line. Champney was uninjured. Both incidents occurred near McCoy's Sales and Service close to the east city limits.
A Cleveland man Ray Catchings and his wife Eloise Catchings died after a Sunday turnpike crash west of the Fremont interchange. Eloise died at Fremont Hospital. Ray died five hours later. The accident occurred as Eloise, 39, was eastbound and lost control on wet pavement. A separate note mentions a Saturday night high school game and photos of coaches and players from Monroeville and St Pauls.
